Sunday in Japan

A co production between ELDA PRODUCTIONS and MOON ROAD MEDIA & FILMS

Sunday, a Ugandan man, writes, directs and acts out scenes drawn from his experience as an asylum-seeker in Japan. He is not alone. Together with other members of his community and involving the Japanese people they meet along the way, a new narrative starts to emerge.

Through the making of an action film inspired by a 15th-century black slave turned samurai, an unlikely friendship develops between two Ugandan asylum seekers and a Japanese artist in Tokyo. Through their eyes, we come face to face with an unfamiliar Japan on the brink.
